Pride Edinburgh 2022 – Kick off 12.30

Pride Edinburgh, Scotland’s longest running annual celebration of the diverse LGBTQI+ community of Edinburgh and beyond can trace its roots back to 1988 and “Lark in the Park”. However it wasn’t until the 17th of June 1995 that the first Pride March took to the streets of Edinburgh.

From 1995 until 2008 under the name “Pride Scotia” the Pride march and festival alternated between Edinburgh and Glasgow, however in 2008 the Glasgow team split from Pride Scotia and Pride Scotia became an annual event in Edinburgh each June.

Pride Scotia would continue to produce an annual March and associated festivities in the capital city until 2016 with a new Chair and organizing committee in place the time was right to rebrand and give the capital the Pride event it deserved.

Pride Edinburgh was launched, retaining the Pride Scotia march continuing the legacy of those who built the event and witnessed the momentous changes over a quarter of a century.

The founding stone of all Pride events in the capital city is that they are free at the point of contact and to date no ticket or entry fee has been charged to Pride goers, the current committee have reaffirmed that Pride Edinburgh will remain a free event to all.

2022 marks our 27th Year and our 25th event, as we continue to embrace our history and move forward to a future of equality for all irrespective of sexuality, gender, colour, class or creed.

We look forward to welcoming you to Pride Edinburgh 25: Let It Be on Saturday 25th June 2022.
