Festival of the Moon at Winchester Cathedral

February 5 - February 18

£12.50

The Museum of the Moon artwork by artist Luke Jerram is coming to Winchester for the first time in February 2024. Pop into the cathedral to marvel at its beauty or join one of the many events and activities that will be taking place in the moonlight, from pilates to silent discos.

This is a touring artwork by talented UK artist Luke Jerram. This large-scale installation has been circling the globe, lighting up spaces from Bilbao to Beijing, including abbeys and swimming pools, exciting and inspiring visitors along the way.

Already experienced by over 20 million people worldwide, the moon will finally arrive in Winchester for the very first time in February 2024. It was dubbed as one of the National History Museum’s most popular exhibits of all time, after 2 million+ visitors congregated there to appreciate its beauty.

Entry to see the moon will be included with your general admission ticket.

Measuring seven metres in diameter, the moon features 120dpi detailed NASA imagery of the lunar surface. At an approximate scale of 1:500,000, each centimetre of the internally lit spherical sculpture represents 5km of the moon’s surface.

Wander the majestic nave of Winchester Cathedral by moonlight and feel amazed by this breathtaking installation.
